Tarnfield Park refurb underway

Yeadon Lib Dem councillors Ryk Downes, Sandy Lay and Colin Campbell have welcomed the start of the long-awaited Tarnfield Park works at Yeadon Tarn.
The refurbishment work started on Tuesday 13th September and is set to run for approximately sixteen weeks. This will see the park itself open, but the play area closed.
The works include clearance of the existing area with extensive landscaping to remove the cobbled mound which currently houses the slide, as well as provision of new play equipment consisting of a climbing frame with slide, a play unit for toddlers, a roundabout, five swings and a see saw.
It is set to cost approximately £140,000 and funding has been found from several sources, including developer contributions and local wellbeing funding.

Cllr Downes (Lib Dem, Otley and Yeadon) said:
“It took so much time and hard work to find funding for the project but we promised an overhaul of the existing facilities and we have delivered. I can’t wait to see what it looks like when the work is finished.”

Cllr Lay (Lib Dem, Otley and Yeadon) added:
“This will be a wonderful Christmas present for the children of Yeadon, as well as the many families who come to the tarn to visit the park. It is a much needed refurbishment, and I’m so pleased that the work has now started to finally give it the face lift it deserves.”

Cllr Campbell (Lib Dem, Otley and Yeadon) also added:
“This is great news! Although the park will be closed until the New Year, the results should definitely be worth the wait.”
